MUSIC
MINISTRY
Music
in the liturgy aspires to touch and express that part of
ourselves which is beyond words. Our parish music ministers
serve God, the liturgy and our worshipping community by
leading, supporting and enhancing our sung prayer.
Music
ministry includes cantors, accompanists, choirs and
instrumentalists.
There
are currently three regular choirs at St. Catherine’s:
- 10:30 Choir sings
weekly at the 10:30 Mass, often in 3 or 4 part harmony. Teens
and adults are always welcome to join. We rehearse on
Thursdays at 7:00 PM.
- Junior Choir
sings about once a month at 9:00 Mass during the school year.
Children and teens in grades 5 and up are welcome to join as
singers or instrumentalists.
We rehearse
on Tuesday during school year from 3:05 PM to 3:40 PM.
- Children’s Choir sings about once a month at the 9:00
Mass during the school year. Children from second semester
kindergarten through 4th grade are welcome to join.
We rehearse on Thursday afternoons.
Our
music ministers also provide music for special feasts and
celebrations, including:
- Christmas Concert
Choir offers a program before Midnight Mass. The 10:30
Choir recruits members to join them for this special seasonal
choir.
- Children’s Christmas Choir sings at the Christmas Eve
Family
Mass.
This special choir also recruits one-time members.
-
Simbang Gabi Choir
sings during Advent.
